THE JAMES AWARD

The James Award provides a way for Fellowships of United Methodist Men to recognize men and women in the local church whose character and service mark them as "Doers of the Word and not Hearers only…" as the book of James admonishes Christians in 1:22 (KJV)

The James Award has been established by the Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Men as a vehicle for focusing a spotlight on faithful members of the local churches who quietly go about serving God.

Local Fellowship of United Methodist Men will want to encourage individuals, Sunday School Classes, and other groups to identify persons in the congregation who can be nominated through the United Methodist Men for this award. The James Awards should preferably be presented in a meeting of the entire congregation so that the membership can share in the recognition. It might be done on a special Sunday when the ministries of men are being recognized.

Nomination forms may be downloaded by [ clicking here ], or obtained from your Conference President of United Methodist Men. Each nomination will need to include a statement of why this person or persons qualifies for the James Award.

A Tax-exempt contribution to the SEJUMM of $100 will need to accompany each nomination. These contributions will strengthen ministries and projects of United Methodist Men in the Southeast.

A beautiful "Certificate of The James Award" - suitable for framing - and signed by the President of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of United Methodist Men will be provided for each person. In addition to the Certificate,
