MEN IN MISSION

One of the most powerful tools available to a UMMen's local fellowship for spiritual growth and witness is through active mission service. Here we have provided links to a number of resources for local fellowships to be active in mission.

Additionally, many of the Annual Conferences of the UMC have ongoing men's mission programs. For more information on activities within your Annual Conference, contact your Annual Conference President or check your annual conference UMM website.

A wonderful hands-on way to involve your men now in helping Haiti - Health Kits

UMCOR’s two relief supply warehouses are asking United Methodists to provide health kits that can be sent to earthquake-devastated Haiti.

“For people who are feeling powerless in being able to help those in Haiti, providing health kits is a tangible way they can make an immediate difference,” said Kathy Kraiza, director of UMCOR’s relief supplies. She estimates that hundreds of thousands of kits will be needed in the days and months ahead.

More than 1 million pocket devotionals, Strength for Service were distributed during WWII & the Korean War.before going out of print.

50 years later, Eagle Scout Evans Hunsburger was inspired by his grandfather's worn copy to work to republish it as his Eagle Scout project.

In 2002 he succeeded and over 375,000 copies have been distributed, blessing service personnel and public safety workers around the world. Sponsored by the General Commission on United Methodist Men, UMM units around the country have been active participants in distributing these powerful little books, providing spiritual comfort and nurture to troops in Iraq, Afghanistan as well as 9/11 workers here at home.

Chaplains attest to their usefulness in reaching those in real need with words relevant to the daily challenges they face.

The latest recipients of copies of Strength for Service include the crew of the recently commissioned USS New York. The ship was built containing 40 tons of steel from the Twin Towers in her bow as a witness to the ongoing American commitment to freedom. Read more.
