Warner Robbins Pastor Receives Freeman Award in South Georgia
Each year, the United Methodist Men of the South Georgia Conference seek nominees for the G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award. This award is given to a United Methodist pastor who exemplifies the spirit of the one for whom the award is named through his dedication to the United Methodist Men in his congregation. This pastor is one that goes the extra mile and works tirelessly with the men to help them be the best that they can be. Nominations are accepted in Jan. and Feb. A worthy recipient is then chosen from those that have been nominated.
The recipient of the 2010 G. Ross Freeman Award is Dr. Jimmy Asbell, Jr., senior pastor of First United Methodist Church, Warner Robins, Ga. Roy Lifsey, president of the G. Ross Freeman Foundation and Chuck Cowart, president of the South Georgia Conference United Methodist Men were on hand at the 11 o’clock worship service on May 23 to surprise Jimmy with this presentation.
We want to congratulate Jimmy for this achievement. His nomination was very strong in praising him for always being involved in the many projects that the men undertake – not only helping but leading the way. We encourage all pastors to support men’s ministry in your church. The men and the church will benefit greatly from this. To God Be The Glory! |
