G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award for 2011 presented to Rev. R. Phillip Short

The Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Men and the G. Ross Freeman Foundation, Inc. are pleased to recognize the following servant leader as a witness to the power of God in the life of this committed pastor.

Rev R. Phillip Short, Jr..

. The G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award of the Florida Conference for 2011 goes to the Rev. R. Phillip Short Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, Florida in the Atlantic Central District.

Rev. Short, upon his appointment to Stuart First UMC, started a men's ministry called the "Band of Brothers".  This ministry began in his driveway, meeting every week.

Men got involved in Bible study and it served as a launching point for outreach and service projects.  The UMM routinely engage in service projects, evangelism and mission trips.  Rev. Short constantly challenges men to live the Christian life and to be more like Christ.  His exemplary leadership and personal involvement in men's ministry has become an outstanding service to the community with their outreach projects as evidence of the mission of Jesus Christ.
For these and many other reasons,

it is with great pride that the United Methodist Men of the Florida Conference join the United Methodist Men of the Southeastern Jurisdiction in presenting the G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award to Rev. R. Phillip Short, Jr. for 2011.

The G. Ross Freeman Foundation, Inc., and the Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Men give all glory to God for the leadership provided by these faithful pastors.

The Southeastern Jurisdiction United Methodist Men (SEJ UMM) approved the G. Ross Freeman Leadership Award Program in June of 2002 to honor Pastors who encourage the Ministries of Men in Evangelism, Missions, and Spiritual Growth.

Many of these pastors have contributed their wisdom and expertise to a collection of Clergy Think-Tank Reports available on our RESOURCES pages.
