The James Award is presented to men and women in the local church whose life of service for the Kingdom of Christ is a quiet witness to all. The SEJ UMM Association of Conference Presidents presented the James Award to Morris Oglesby and Sam Hodges, long time leaders in service to Christ and UMMen in the SEJ. The James award is given in recognition of outstanding service to the Lord's church and given by the G. Ross Freeman Foundation. President L.W.Smith commented that these two men were rocks in the SEJ and major leaders in outreach and mission programs. The James Award provides a way for Fellowships of United Methodist Men to recognize men and women in the local church whose character and service mark them as "Doers of the Word and not Hearers only…" as the book of James admonishes Christians in 1:22 (KJV) To learn more or to nominate a local church member see The James Award. |

Reconstruction Started! The long awaited rebuilding of Leigh Cottage has begun! |
The foundation is poured, and the framing is underway. Volunteers from United Methodist Men's groups recently began rebuilding Leigh Cottage last month at the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur, GA. The cottage was destroyed by fire in 2007. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Individual Volunteer Skills Inventory form. For more information, visit www.ngumc.org/umm.See more information about this project by clicking here.
UMM sponsored a home build in a church parking lot in GAfor the Allday family of Pascagoula, MS.
|
Volunteers gathered on June 6th to frame the walls of the Allday home in the parking lot of New Covenant UMC, Douglasville, GA.
Under the leadership of the local fellowship of UMM, workers framed the interior and exterior walls of the home and loading it on a truck for Mississippi that day.
Seven days later the home was dried in!
This type of project has proven successful before. In 2008 at Creekside UMC of North Georgia, 150 volunteers framed and loaded a 2000 square foot home for a Katrina survivor in Mississippi and had it loaded on the truck and leaving the parking lot within hours.

"The Following Christ Bible study has been invaluable to my programming this semester. The students of the College of Charleston, the Citadel and Medical University of South Carolina are diverse in their theology and worldview. I have chosen to use the study at the Citadel and CSU where conversation about any study have tended to be non-existent or superficial. This study has them exploring their faith to greater depths and they are actually dialoguing with each other on the individual responses to the reflection questions. "from Lisa C. Hawkins |

What is REACHING EVERY MAN?
INTRODUCING A STRATEGY TO LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND
The intent of this four-hour course is to introduce the basics of building a sustainable ministry to men in your church. The principles taught in this training will not solve all the problems or supply all the answers in regard to ministering to your men. It will, however, help you ask the right questions and look at the discipleship activities you offer for men in your church in a different light.
